How to choose the right Tray Trolleys
- Assess how many trays or pans you need to move or store at peak times and choose a trolley with enough levels to handle your busiest service.
- Match the trolley format to your trays: select GN compatible models for Gastronorm pans and EN or bakery trolleys for sheet and patisserie trays.
- Measure corridors, doorways and lifts to ensure the trolley footprint and height suit your kitchen layout and storage areas.
- Decide between open racking for quick access or models with protective housing and covers where hygiene or temperature control is critical.
- Choose robust stainless steel or aluminium construction for heavy-duty use in hotels, restaurants, hospitals and contract catering sites.
- Look for trolleys with quality castors, including braked wheels, if you will park them in service areas or on uneven floors.
Care and maintenance
- Clean frames and shelves regularly with warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse and dry to prevent residue build-up.
- Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can scratch stainless steel or damage protective coatings and covers.
- Inspect castors frequently, removing debris from wheels and tightening fixings to maintain smooth, safe movement.
- Check tray runners and rails for bends or damage and straighten or replace components to keep trays sliding freely.
- Wash reusable covers according to manufacturer guidelines and replace disposable covers after each use for best hygiene.
- Store trolleys unloaded where possible and park them with brakes engaged to prevent accidental movement.
Pair your trolleys with our Gastronorm pans, bakery trays, food storage and general catering trolleys to build a complete handling and storage solution.
